Obituary

: Hugh L. "Pop" "Joey" Allen, 69, of Millville, died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family members.

Pop was born in Millville and was a 1963 graduate of Millville High School. Pop proudly served 4 years in the Navy during the Viet Nam War aboard the USS Manley. Pop retired from Foundry Service of Vineland as a truck driver, but had been a driver for over 35 years with various companies. He also had travelled thousand s of miles without an accident. Pop was also a life time member of the Millville Elks Lodge #580.
Pop's true love and passion was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His life was dedicated to his family, making sure they had what they needed, picking up the kids from school or just hanging out them, gave Pop joy in his heart. He was hard working and a dedicated family man. As a truck driver, he had friends all over, and he would talk with you for hours, IF you let him. He was a gentleman and had a great sense of humor. Pop will be sadly missed by his family and close friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Joan; 4 children: Susan (Lionel), Nadine (Joe), William(Arlene) and Hugh, Jr.(Kim): 7 grandchildren: Melody (Mark), Tiffani (Mike), Zachary, Tyler, Donnie, Joey and Tori: 3 great grandchildren: Benny, Armanti and Mikey. He was predeceased by his parents: Larry and Hilda and brother: James.

A celebration of Pop's life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 1 PM in the Elmer Diner. The family would appreciate it if you contact them, if you will be attending. Written condolences may be sent to: [email protected]
