James Waligroski Obituary

James Edward Waligroski, of Bridgeton, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 22, 2024.  Jimmy was 67 years old.

Jim was known for his kind and caring nature and love for his wife, friends and family.  He and his wife spent free time exploring South Jersey and the surrounding areas while enjoying each other's company.  Jim grew up and lived in Bridgeton, NJ for most of his life.  In his chosen profession of being an electrician, he was involved in major construction activities that helped shape South Jersey from the Salem Nuclear Power Plant that provided power to a greater part of the Delaware Valley to the development of Atlantic City hotels and casinos in the 80's and 90's.  He was also involved in the construction of numerous healthcare facilities and schools that served the region.

Jim was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and later moved with his parents to El Paso, Texas, where he took in the hot arid climate and a few scorpion encounters before deciding to move the family to South Jersey. Here, he found his true home, and spent the rest of his live in Bridgeton.  In Bridgeton, he had access to wide open spaces, forested enclaves and the Cohansey River right by his house.  He took great advantage of the countryside exploring everywhere that was within the boarder of the Two Trees.  He soon met his lifelong friend and brother, Richard "Ricky" Boss, and together, they pursued many adventures and also misadventures of the countryside while riding their bikes and motorcycles on the trails. Over the years, Jim and Ricky formed a lifelong bond that could never break, and there were many stories that went along with their lifelong journey of friendship.

Survived by his beloved wife, Janice (Ritz) Waligroski.  Loving son of Patsy and the late Edward Waligroski. Step-father of Joy Allison Grassman and step-grandfather of Robert Rene and Marley Amada Gant.  Dear brother of Greg Waligroski and the late Karen Ann Waligroski. Jim had so many friends become family over the years, and leaves behind his "Surrogate Family", Esther Cooper and her children that were like grandchildren, Joshua Alexander  and Gabrielle Grace Cooper, as well as his "Chosen Brother", Tim Bryte and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to Jimmy's visitation on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the ROCAP SHANNON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 24 North Second Street, Millville, NJ  08332.  Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM.
