Sharon Devota Johnson-Tell, age 72, of Columbia, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 2, 2023. She was affectionately known as "Sister" to all who knew her.
She was born October 28, 1951 in Salisbury, Maryland to Alonzo Lester Johnson and Dorothy Hettie Brittingham-Pennewell. She studied at the New England Tech PC-Program, Salem Co. Community College, Salem Co. Community Tech, studying in Phlebotomy and earning designation as a certified phlebotomist. She went on to graduate from Salem Community College with a focus in becoming a Business secretary, followed by the Nursing program. She went on to become a nurse throughout the Philadelphia, Delaware, New Jersey, and Virginia for many years. After falling ill in the early 2000’s she no longer could work and turned her attention to other activities, Art, African history, Ancestry, etc.,.
In life, she had two influential women that she loved dearly. The first was her late mother, whom she would always quote her sayings and was her biggest inspiration in life. The second woman, was late Bishop Collene Williams of Holy Temple Church in Penns Grove, NJ. A church of which Sharon and family are still members.
She leaves behind a beloved family to cherish her memory which include her husband, Wolfgang W. Walther Tell, a union over 20 years; her children: Darin Theodore Johnson, Regoberto Manuel Johnson Sr. (Jammie), and Francine Cloris Johnson-Hill; her grandchildren: Darin (Pooh Bear) Johnson Jr., Juanita, Maurice, Kishawna, Christopher, Tylin, Regoberto (Ricky) Johnson Jr., Nicolas, & Lola Johnson; her brother Don Pennewell; as well as a host of great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins!
She was preceded in death by her parents; Alonzo Lester Johnson & Dorothy Hettie Brittingham-Pennewell; her sisters Elsie Pennewell, Leona Pennewell, Doris Pennewell, Arcessa Pennewell, Arnita White and Benice Delsie Johnson; Her brothers Milton Pennewell, Richard Pennewell, Lester Alonzo, Clarence Johnson, and Charles Williams.
Her love will always be for her family no matter which plane she resides! She will be missed by all and now she joins her other family in peace! We love you Sharon Devota Johnson-Tell
Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Saturday July 15th at 11:00AM at Evergreen Cemetery, Salem, NJ where she will rest in eternal peace beside her late sisters.
